< Saraswati >
= at Arrahabad in India

—–calligraphy , picture and composition by Ahomaru—–

In Arrahabad, a city of India, a boatman said to Ahomaru, “There is a junction of two rivers, the ‘Ganges’ and ‘Jamne=Yamuna’. Beneath the surface of reality , however, there was a third river, ‘Saraswati ’, below the earth which we can not see.”

Saraswati ” represents the goddess of the ancient river in India. Afterwards, this thought was combined with Hinduism, and she was changed the goddess of music. Then it came to Japan by way of Nepal and India. In Japan, “Saraswati ” is called “Benzaiten ” . Because, she was mixed with “Japanese Animism” ,“Shinto ” (faith from ancient times), and “Syugendo ” (one of Japanese Buddism sects, especially ascetics in mountain ), in long history. This mixture is “Honjisuijyaku ” . But, she is still the goddess of music in Japan.

Ahomaru wrote the “Saraswati ” with a Sanskrit character and drew a peacock feather in the background of a Arrahabad landscape. The peacock is a symbol of “Saraswati ” .
